Volume 2 is one of the most romantic volumes out of all 18, therefore, one of my most favorites. This is the volume which reveals that Usagi is the moon princess and Usagi and Mamoru finally find their love for each other.

Usagi and Mamoru scenes:

  • Usagi, Ami and Mako are walking to school in the morning and they bump into Mamoru. They recognize each other with mixed emotions: Mamoru with surprise and Usagi with a doubtful expression. Being the gentleman he is, he initiates the conversation by calling her a lumphead and telling her to work harder. Usagi makes a face at him and tells him it's none of his business. When the coast is clear, Ami and Mako tease her about him. They tell her her face is turning really red.

  • The Dark Kingdom was sucking the energy out of everybody everywhere. Usagi is on a street on the verge of collapsing and felt all the energy exiting her body. She faints right in the street with her Moon Wand laying beside her. Mamoru came along and saw her. He acts very concerned and protective towards her, gathering her in his arms. He felt all the heat coming out of her and realized with alarm that it was her energy. He pats her face and tells her to wake up.

When Usagi opens her eyes, the sight of Tuxedo Kamen greets her. She's shocked beyond belief by his presence and sees that his hand is holding hers protectively. At first, she wonders if he's the one sucking the energy out of the people but he tells her he's only looking for the Silver Crystal. He tells her to hurry and change into Sailor Moon because she's the only one who could save everbody. At first, she's shocked and horrified that Tuxedo Kamen knew she was Sailor Moon but tells herself she doesn't have time to worry about that now. She grabs her brooch and changes into Sailor Moon.

At first, she falters, thinking she's not as capable as Ami, Rei or Mako. Tears squeeze out of her eyes until Tuxedo Kamen holds her against his body and caresses her face. He tells her she can succeed. The Moon Wand floats up and glows. An image of the Sailor V game pops in her mind. She imitates the game and a blast of energy emits from the wand, reviving the victims. Her mission succeeded, she faints and Tuxedo Kamen catches her. He nuzzles her with a gentle smile and tells her she did a good job. He picks her up and carries her away. A pocketwatch drops into her lap.

  • When Usagi wakes up, she's in a strange room. She has memories of a strange dream; a man calling out to her. She lifts the covers off her and finds the pocketwatch in her lap. She detransforms back into her school uniform and ponders about Tuxedo Kamen. She thinks that she's in his room and wonders how he knows so much about her. The door opens and a man comes in. She looks up to his face and gets the shock of her life. The man is Chiba Mamoru wearing Tuxedo Kamen attire minus his mask, top hat, jacket and cape.

  • Usagi wonders why Mamoru is doing here and asks him this. He asks her if she remembers. She gasps and holds a sheet to her mouth. She spots a cape and domino mask on the couch. She recognizes the intricate ornament at the base of Mamoru's throat as Tuxedo Kamen's. Slowly, she gets out of bed and approaches the cape and mask. She holds the mask against Mamoru's eyes and asks: "Tuxedo Kamen? Why are you Tuxedo Kamen?"

He exlains to her he's doing it for the sake of his memory. He tells her his childhood story: When he was six, his parents and him were going for a ride when their car plunged down a cliff. He woke up in a hospital, his memories wiped out. Ever since then, he had dreams of a woman telling him to find the Silver Crystal. He thinks that if he does this, all his memories could be restored and he could find out his true self. Mamoru then asks her why she's searching for the Silver Crystal. She stutters, saying she's not sure but Luna wants them to.

They stare at each other for awhile, thoughts whirling through Usagi's mind. She says Luna must be waiting for her so she should be heading back. As she walks out the door, Mamoru calls to her: "Usako" and hands her her bookbag and she leaves in a state of bliss. She thinks that since he called her Usako, she'll call him Mamo-chan. She remembers the pocketwatch and pulls it out of her pocket. In his apartment, he takes out her hankerchief and reminices about their kiss at Princess Diamond's ball. He kisses the hankerchief the same time she kisses his pocketwatch.

  • Usagi is on her way to school in the morning and sees Mamoru reading books about crystals in a park. She nervously greets him good morning. Thoughts of him and the Silver Crystal flashes through her mind. Mamoru smiles at her and says he's embarrassed to see her now but everytime they meet, it feels like fate. Embarrassed, Usagi changes the subject and brings out the pocketwatch to return. He tells her to keep it and that he has something of hers too.

Meanwhile, Luna observes them silently and then trots away. She senses that they're in their own little world.

  • Sailor Moon is free-falling dangerously through air and Tuxedo Kamen catches her. She's extremely relieved and gratefully hugs him tightly. She tells him the situation is dangerous and he better leave. She then surprises by kissing him and then and runs off. A very shocked Tuxedo Kamen is left wondering about her.

  • Sailor Moon is fighting against Kunzite. He lets out a blast of energy and Tuxedo Kamen thinks that this time he has to protect her. He jumps directly in front of her and takes the hit. A horrified Sailor Moon calls out to him. Tuxedo Kamen thinks that Sailor Moon's long hair looks a lot like the girl in his dreams. A memory flashes through is mind: Princess Serenity calling "Endymion!" All of a sudden, the memories come flooding back to him. He lifes his hands with the last of his strength and says: "Serenity..." and his head rolls to the side.

She screams out no, hugging him close to her body. The tiara on her head splits in two and is replaced by the crescent moon. Her fuku (uniform) changed into Princess Serenity's dress from a thousand years ago. The pocketwatch appears and starts working. Usagi's memories of a thousand years ago come back to her. She remembers how she used to sneak to Earth to see Endymion. A teardrop drips off her face and crystallizes into the Silver Crystal. Kunzite tries to grab it using his magic but ends up grabbing Tuxedo Kamen instead. he disappears into the Dark Kingdom leaving Usagi behind, devasted.
